The Vast Within the Minute

‘The Vast Within the Minute’ is an ongoing multimedia project inspired by my practice as a virtual YouTuber. It explores how individuals and marginalized groups navigate global crises and neoliberal constraints through social media and AI. Drawing from the Buddhist image of “Mount Sumeru within a mustard seed,” the work imagines a paradoxical yet balanced ecosystem of “ultra-liberalism.” The project consists of two parts: a video and an AR installation. The video follows a VTuber avatar resisting oppression through fragmented dialogues and performative confrontations—for example, facing soldiers or navigating surreal livestream settings. The AR installation creates a live stage where I perform with four avatars embodying different phases of liberalism. Audiences can experience this through AR/VR and interact with the avatars in real time, as the project continues to evolve.
